Banana Dog Donuts
from Five Barks
Donut day is one of the best holidays to celebrate, but there seems to be a lack of dough-pups. A delicous combination of oats, peanut butter, banana, and egg, allows your dog to partake in the fun. Make these treats for your dog to make every day like National Donut Day.
- Coconut Oil (return missing)1 cup of Oats
- ⅓ cup of Peanut Butter*
- 1 Banana
- 1 Egg
- Donut Tin
- *Extra for drizzling
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease the donut tins with the coconut oil so the donut does not stick to the pan. Set aside to fill later.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the banana and combine with the oat flour, egg, and peanut butter. Mix together until you get a batter.
- Split the batter evenly into the donut molds. Be careful not to over fill because the batter will expand in the oven. Let bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until you can slide a toothpick into the donut and have it come out clean.
- Let cool before drizzling peanut butter and oats over them.
We love this healthy take on the traditional donut! Peanut butter is a fun and yummy source of protein your pup is sure to enjoy! Be sure to check ingredient labels and avoid brands containing xylitol due to it's toxicity in dogs. Oats in this recipe are a nutrient-packed food that provides an excellent source of soluble fiber, which aids in managing blood sugar and blood cholesterol levels while also improving gut-healthy bacteria.
